Former MK Blumenthal rescinds appeal request

Former Knesset member Naomi Blumenthal on Sunday rescinded her request to appeal her verdict in the City Tower case. In a letter she sent to the Tel Aviv District Court, Blumenthal announced that she would not appeal the verdict she received last year, when she was convicted of bribery and obstruction of justice, among other charges. Blumenthal was accused of renting rooms for Likud central committee members at the Sheraton City Tower Hotel Ramat Gan on the evening of a party primary vote and later attempting to cover up her actions. The former MK has asked the court instead to reduce the eight-month prison sentence she was given.
