Former Safed mayor sentenced to 6 months in jail for accepting bribe, fraud

Former Safed mayor Oded Hameiri was sentenced to six months in jail on Thursday for accepting a bribe, fraud and breach of trust. However, the sentence, handed down in the Nazareth Magistrate's Court, is likely to be downgraded to community service. Moral turpitude was not included in Hameiri's conviction, but he was also fined NIS 20,000.
