"[The Darfur refugees are] a question Israel faces today in direct correlation to what happened 3,000 years ago in the Egyptian exodus. We should treat the refugees as if they were escaped slaves," Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann said today at an Israel Bar Association convention in Eilat.
Friedmann also said that Israel had to take a more active part in caring for the refugees. The justice minister claimed that it might be necessary to negotiate the refugees' fate with Europe because Israel did not have the means to find suitable solutions for all of them.
