Israel Prison Authority Chief Yaakov Genot said on Monday afternoon he would not serve as police commissioner, Channel 2 news reported.
The Advisory Committee on Senior Civil Servant Appointments, headed by retired Supreme Court justice Ya'acov Turkel, voted 2-1 against the appointment of Genot.
Following the vote Genot decided to withdraw his appointment.
