Nearly half of grievances against Israel Police justified; NII received most.

A report published by State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss on Monday morning revealed a 27 percent rise in public complaints against government institutions.
The Annual Report on Public Complaints Against Government Offices, Local Authorities, and State Factories and Institutions showed that in the past year, the State Comptroller's office received 10,000 new complaints, one third of which were found to be justified.
According to the report, the National Insurance Institute received the most complaints, with 900 people filing grievances against alleged wrong-doing. Of those complaints, only one fourth were found to be justified.
This percentage stood in stark contrast to the number of justified complaints filed against the Israel Police. Of the 600 complaints received about mistreatment of street offenders, improper investigation management, and premature case closures, 45% were found to be justified.
In addition, hundreds of complaints were submitted against the Justice Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the court system, the Finance Ministry, and other ministries.
The comptroller noted a rise in the number of complaints filed in recent years, and suggested that it was due in part to increased public faith in the complaint-filing system.
He added it was therefore prudent to increase the number of employees in the complaints department.
