A woman was stabbed to death in Haifa on Wednesday evening during her own son's birthday party, after asking a number of guests to keep the noise down. The murder victim, 49, went downstairs to ask three men from Nazareth to lower the noise level on the street they were standing in, after a number of guests complained, police said. One of the men produced a knife and repeatedly stabbed the woman. Her 24-year-old son was also stabbed and moderately injured, police added. The woman was rushed to hospital but was declared dead by doctors on arrival. A police station is situated close to the murder scene, and a family member ran to the station to get help soon after the stabbing. Officers arrived on the scene and launched a hunt for the suspects, pulling over a vehicle containing three men who matched eyewitness descriptions. A knife suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered by police in the men's car. On Thursday, the injured son reportedly identified one of the three men as the chief murder suspect.
