Hamas man arrested in J'lem at PA election event

Jerusalem police on Sunday arrested a Hamas activist taking part in a Palestinian election campaign in an east Jerusalem hotel, police said. Mohammed Amiel Salah, who is running on the Hamas list, in Wednesday's Palestinian parliamentary elections, was taken into custody at the afternoon gathering held at the Ambassador Hotel in east Jerusalem. Israel has forbidden Palestinian terror organizations, such as Hamas, from campaigning in east Jerusalem, and police have carried out a series of raids in the city over the last two weeks to thwart such activity.
