Hamas: Schalit's release depends on Israel

Ghazi Hamad, spokesman for Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said Saturday evening that the deal regarding the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Schalit is in Israel's hands. Hamad said that such a deal could only be implemented if Israel responds positively to a list of Palestinian prisoners supposedly handed over to Israel earlier Saturday via Egyptian mediators. The spokesman echoed words previously spoken by Palestinian Authority Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti who said that the "ball is in Israel's court," referring to the next move made to further the process of the soldier's release.
