Hamas threatens to toughen demands in Schalit release deal

Hamas has threatened to toughen its stance for the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Schalit if Israel does not respond to the group's demand to release 450 prisoners. Hamas representative in Lebanon, Usama Hamdan, told London-based daily Al Hayat on Wednesday that should Israel fail to respond to its current demand to release 450 prisoners, Hamas would then ask for 1000 prisoners. Meanwhile, negotiations between Hamas and Egyptian officials on the topic of Schalit's release continue in Cairo.
