Hanegbi: I am opposed to releasing Palestinian murderers

MK Tzahi Hanegbi (Kadima), who is also the head of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee (FADC), on Monday expressed his opposition to releasing Palestinian prisoners with blood on their hands. "I object to the release of murderers," Hanegbi told Arutz 7 radio. "A murderer is a murderer regardless of legal definitions. I hope there will be no relaxation of the term 'murderer'. Anyone who murdered Jews belongs behind lock and key. There can be no concession or flexibility in this matter." Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is slated to meet his ministers Monday to review the category of Palestinian prisoners with "blood on their hands". The move is intended to ease future prisoner releases and facilitate the renewal of negotiations over IDF Cpl. Gilad Schalit, captive since June 2006.
