Haredim protest police in Ramat Beit Shemesh

About 250 haredim protested Sunday in Ramat Beit Shemesh over the continued detention of several haredim arrested last month for creating a public disturbance, police said. The protesters, who blocked traffic in the area, carried placards, including one of the Beit Shemesh Police Chief Oz Eliasi dressed in a Nazi uniform, Jerusalem Police Spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. Haredi residents have repeatedly clashed with police both in the neighborhood and in Jerusalem over the last month after police arrested five haredi residents for allegedly creating disturbances. Two of the suspects have since been released from detention, while three remain in custody, police said.
