A special panel of seven judges of the High Court of Justice decided Sunday for the second time not to remove MK Michael Gorlovsky's (Likud) immunity, ruling against a petition filed by the Movement for Quality of Government (MQG).
The panel decided that an amendment to the Parliamentary Immunity Law did not allow the High Court to remove immunity without an appeal from the attorney-general himself.
The MQG petitioned the High Court of Justice in early June asking it to overturn a decision by the Knesset House Committee against lifting Gorlovsky's immunity.
Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz released a statement following the HCJ decision saying he would petition to remove Gorlovsky's immunity.
