Heart surgeon indicted for bribery

Professor Aram Smolanski, former manager of the cardiologic surgery department at Tel Hashomer Hospital, was indicted on Wednesday on 11 counts of bribery. According to suspicions, Slomiansky would perform operations in exchange for payments of thousands of dollars that were transferred from the family to the medical research fund at Tel Hashomer. However, in one case, the 59-year-old Netanya resident was also accused of pocketing bribes himself which amounted to $7,500. Smolanski denied the accusations.
