Heiman to head IDF Strategic Planning Division

IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi decided Monday night to appoint Brig.-Gen. Yossi Heiman as head of the IDF's Strategic Planning Division in place of Brig.-Gen. Udi Dekel. Heiman, currently an instructor at the National Defense College and a former Chief Infantry and Paratroopers Officer, made headlines following the Second Lebanon War when he became the first senior officer to admit the failure of the war and accused himself and the rest of the top military brass of sinning the "sin of arrogance." Brig.-Gen. Guy Zur, commander of a division that fought during the war, was appointed head of the IDF's Ground Forces Training Center near Ze'elim. The appointments are pending Defense Minister Amir Peretz's approval.
