Herzog: Gaza truce best option, military op won't free Schalit

A Gaza truce agreement is the best of some very difficult options, Welfare and Social Services Minister Isaac Herzog said Sunday.
Speaking to Israel Radio, Herzog said Hamas sought calm due to the crisis it was facing, which was the result of the correct Israeli policy on everything connected to the Gaza Strip.
"Everyone knows that if the situation does not change, Israel will embark on a large-scale operation in the Strip," he said, stressing, however, that "such an operation will not bring about the release of [captured IDF soldier] Gilad Schlait, while a truce will move forward his freedom."
