High Court orders Mazuz to explain Katsav plea

A panel of five High Court justices headed by Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch ordered Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz on Wednesday to explain the reasons for the plea bargain offered to former president Moshe Katsav. In accordance with the plea arrangement, Mazuz agreed to drop the most serious charges included in the original draft indictment. Attorney Avigdor Feldman, one of Katsav's lawyers, is due to respond to the petitions.
