High Court: Release Winograd protocols to public

The High Court of Justice announced Wednesday that it would permit releasing selections of the Winograd Committee protocols to the public if there were no security-related reason not to do so. The court rejected a petition by MK Zehava Gal-On (Meretz) to open the proceedings to the public, saying that most of the important testimonies had already been given, thus rendering such a move irrelevant. However, the judges said there was no reason to delay publication of the protocols until the committee released its final report on the handling of the summer's war in Lebanon. In addition, they ruled that if the committee heard more testimonies, it would be required to publicize all information that did not pose a threat to national security.
