Hundreds protest Reform event in Rosh Ha'ayin

Hundreds of Ultra-Orthodox demonstrators protested outside the Rosh Ha'ayin community center on Thursday night against a music event put on by the local Reform congregation Bavat Ayin. "There are curses, threats, incitement," said Rabbi Gilad Kariv, who was attending the event, of the demonstrators. The demonstration was organized by the local religious council, according to Kariv. The rabbis leading the protest were "public servants, paid by public funds." The event was the first in a series titled Oman Ve'emunah, "the artist and faith," and featured singer Shlomo Gronich. Outside, meanwhile, the demonstrators read Psalms and blasted loud music in an attempt to stifle the music inside.
