Husband allegedly locked wife at home

Woman escapes by jumping out of car; husband then tries to run her over.

A man in his 40s from a village in the Nahal Eiron region has been arrested on suspicion that he physically and emotionally abused his wife, whom he allegedly locked in their home for month. On Friday, the suspect's wife convinced her husband to take her and their four-month-old daughter for an outing. As the family car neared Pardes Hanna, the woman jumped out. Her husband, seeing that she had escaped the vehicle, attempted unsuccessfully to run her over, after which he left the scene, Israel Radio reported. Police arrested the man at home. The couple's daughter was returned - apparently safe - to her mother. The suspect will be remanded Saturday evening in the Hadera District Court.
