IDF announces closure on West Bank and Gaza Strip

A general closure will be imposed on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, effective Saturday night and for the duration of Pessah following a decision made by the political echelon in light of security assessments, the IDF Spokesperson announced. Security preparations for upcoming Christian holidays that will facilitate the observance of all religious ceremonies taking place during the holiday period will still be in effect, said the IDF. The IDF noted alleviations would include passage of Christian residents from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip into the Israel for family visits and religious ceremonies. Clergymen will also be able to pass freely through crossings between the West Bank and Israel. A thousand Palestinian workers from the West Bank will be permitted to pass into northern Israel. Israeli citizens will be allowed to enter both Jericho and Bethlehem in order to participate in religious ceremonies.
