A number of IDF tanks entered the Gaza Strip through the Erez Crossing on Tuesday afternoon.
Miltary sources said the move was to protect the crossing from incidents similar to Monday's Hamas attack during which Palestinians opened fire and threw a grenade at a nearby military outpost.
At least one Palestinian was killed, reportedly a Fatah military commander named Jihad Madhun, and more than a dozen others wounded.
