IDF head: Army needs 'repairs,' not a complete overhaul

The army needs to make "repairs" but not a complete overhaul following the releae of the Final Winograd Report, Chief of the General Staff Lt.-Gen Gabi Ashkenazi said Thursday in his first comments on the final report. "The IDF learned the lessons of the war before the Winograd report was published and will continue to work to apply those lessons. The IDF is a strong army. It does not need restoration. Repair, yes - restoration, no," Ashkenazi said at the graduation ceremony of the IDF's Command and Staff College. "The IDF sees the report as a chance and a tool to thoroughly improve and treat the issues it brought up," Ashkenazi said, adding that the army would form a body which would examine the implementation of the report's recommendations.
