Second Lieutenant Ariel Buda, 21, who was critically injured in a shooting attack in the West Bank nine months ago, died Saturday evening of his wounds at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. In the January attack, Palestinian gunmen waiting in ambush riddled Buda's vehicle with over 30 bullets as it passed the village of Usarin near the Tapuah junction south of Nablus. Sgt. Yosef (Yossi) Attiah, 21, of Petah Tikva, was killed in the attack and two more soldier were wounded. The four soldiers, on leave and dressed in civilian clothes, were on their way to Ma'aleh Ephraim, where they planned to spend Shabbat at the pre-military training academy they had attended before joining the army. Buda will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
