Incoming IDF chief prays for success at Kotel

Incoming Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, accompanied by his mother, wife and two children, stopped off Wednesday at the Kotel to pray for success in his new position. Ashkenazi's visit took place just minutes before the changing of guards ceremony with outgoing Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz at the president's residence. The new IDF chief recited psalms and crushed a small note in between the ancient blocks of the Western Wall. Ashkenazi met with Rabbi of the Kotel Shmuel Rabinowitz, Ilan Franco and Mordechai "Soli" Eliav, director-general of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation regarding the security situation since Muslim protests began against the rebuilding of the Mughrabi Bridge.
