Inmate breaks out of Hermon Prison

A 28-year-old inmate escaped Friday from the Hermon Prison. The escapee had been sentenced to 10 months for making threats. When the prison fence alarm sounded, prison officials conducted a head count, during which they discovered the inmate's absence. Some 600 prisoners are housed in the Hermon Prison, and the level of security is relatively low, since most are sentenced to short prison terms. The Israel Police and the Israel Prisons Service were searching for the escapee.
