Iran: More sanctions will lead to 'confrontation'

More sanctions will not persuade Iran to back down on its nuclear program and may lead to a "confrontation" with the West, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was quoted saying on Thursday. In an interview published on the National Public Radio's (NPR) Web site, Mottaki said: "In today's world, the instrument of sanctions is no longer effective." Mottaki said that a third UN sanctions resolution would be "the start of a confrontation."
