Foreign Ministry Director-General Ron Prosor is in Jordan for bilateral talks, in what was meant to be a secret trip. Israel has been trying to do damage control ever since an IDF general angered Jordan's leadership by suggesting that Islamic extremism threatened the Hashemite dynasty. Jordan threatened to scale down its official ties with Israel last after OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh warned that King Abdullah II risked being toppled by an 'Islamist axis' and could be the last Jordanian monarch. Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz reprimanded Naveh during a General Staff meeting last week and called on all officers, especially senior brass, to demonstrate caution and sensitivity when speaking in public.
