Israel Electric workers ordered to halt strike

The National Labor Court ordered employees of Israel Electric Company to immediately terminate the strike declared Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday. The order comes after Israel Electric workers left their posts Tuesday afternoon, calling a strike in protest of the government's unilateral decision to pass a reform in the electricity market. The company announced that the strike is for an indefinite period of time and that they will not deal with any electricity problems, unless for lifesaving reasons, such as hospitals or for security reasons. The workers also threatened that they would not return to their jobs until negotiations were renewed with the Finance and National Infrastructure Ministries. After the court order, the workers announced they would repair all faults that were reported while on strike.
