'Israeli Idol' winner to represent Israel in upcoming Eurovision

Boaz Ma'uda was selected on Wednesday to represent Israel in the upcoming Eurovision song contest in Belgrad, the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) said. Ma'uda came to fame when he won the popular TV singing contest Kohav Nolad, the Israeli version of American Idol, earlier this year. Shiri Maimon, another of the show's alumni, ranked 4th place in the European song contest two years ago. In an interview on Channel 2 News Ma'uda said the song he would sing in the contest had not yet been selected. "I have no doubt that it will be an excellent [one]," he said.
