Israel's unemployment rate the lowest in a decade

Israel's unemployment rate is the lowest in a decade, Army Radio reported Wednesday. A report recently compiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics shows that the unemployment rate in October stood at 6.9 percent of the population, equal to 210 thousand citizens. According to the report, unemployment has been steadily dropping throughout 2007 and is down by 1% since January. Financial sources told the radio station that the drop is probably a combined result of the state of global economy, an increase in local investment and government moves to raise the employment rate, including the inception of programs meant to get more people off welfare and back to work.
