A year-old boy and his two-year-old sister were in stable condition over the weekend after being admitted on Tuesday to Jerusalem's Bikur Holim Hospital with a virulent strain of meningococcus bacteria.
Lab tests showed on Wednesday that both were infected with the same virulent strain, but the pathogen created different symptoms in the two children. They had arrived barely conscious, but were treated with antibiotics and other drugs.
The Jerusalem District Health Office was informed, and anyone in direct contact with the children was given preventive care.
