Jewish settlers of Hebron market to be evacuated

The state attorney's office informed the High Court of Justice on Thursday that Hebron settlers who overtook the market in the city would be cleared from the site within two months. The presence of the Jewish Hebron residents in the market resulted in a lot of tension and sometimes violence, according to Army Radio. The settlers claimed that the site that they invaded five years ago belonged to local Jews who were killed in the 1929 riots. They added that they "rescued [the place] from its shame," and that they planned to "act by any means necessary to retain Jewish property in Jewish hands."
