J'lem mayor warns against loss of Jewish majority

Jerusalem mayor, Uri Lupolianski, warned Sunday at the opening of the government meeting, of a demographic collapse that will result in an ultimately non-Jewish majority in the capital. The government convened for its weekly meeting at the Begin Heritage Center in Mishkenot Sha'ananim, across from the old city walls, to mark the 40th anniversary of the unification of Jerusalem. Israel, he said, needs a long-term plan so that Jerusalem will forever remain Israel's capital. "We will not be satisfied with crumbs," said the mayor. Prime Minsiter Ehud Olmert promised to allocate NIS 5.75 billion to the city and to cancel Jerusalem's employers' tax.
