The Kalandiya checkpoint just north of Jerusalem will become an exclusive crossing into Israel a military source said Sunday.
The crossing, which will now only be open to Palestinians with entry permits to Israel or those carrying Israeli identity cards, had previously served Palestinians traveling through the West Bank as well as those crossing between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
The changes at the site, which will go in effect by Tuesday, were made after bypass roads were constructed in the area for Palestinians traveling through the West Bank, the military source said.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians use the crossing to enter Jerusalem on a daily basis.
