Karni crossing opens just part of day on Friday

The Karni goods crossing into the Gaza Strip was closed for part of the day on Friday. According to Israel Radio, it opened in the afternoon after a five-hour delay. Only a quarter of the trucks waiting to enter Gaza from Israel succeeded in doing so. The trucks were carrying milk, dairy products, meat, fish and seeds. At 8:00 a.m., Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz had ordered the opening delayed for security reasons. By the time the crossing was opened, most of the Palestinian laborers waiting to enter Israel had already gone home. The defense establishment has announced that it will weigh the opening of the crossing on a daily basis, based on each day's security situation.
