Karni goods crossing eventually opens after delay

The Karni goods crossing on the Israel-Gaza border eventually opened Thursday after its planned opening was delayed by a few hours due to security warnings. The crossing was supposed to open during the morning hours after a period of months which it had been closed. Defense Minister Amir Peretz, who had ordered the crossing's reopening in an effort to ease the living conditions on the Palestinian population, said earlier this week, "We have no struggle with the Palestinian population, only with terror groups."
