President Moshe Katsav called upon Israel's voters on Sunday to exercise their right to vote.
Citizens who do not exercise their right are committing a grave mistake, Katsav said.
He noted that Israel is on the verge of making critical decisions and the elections constituted a referendum on the issues that would forge the state in future years, Israel Radio reported.
