Katsav denies he planned to run in Likud election

President Moshe Katsav denied reports that he intended to run in the Likud Party primaries. If such an initiative existed in the Likud, Katsav told his staff over the weekend, it would hurt the office of the Presidency and should be stopped immediately. Sources close to the president told Army Radio that he had not yet decided whether he would return to politics after his term as president was over. In any case, the sources stressed, Katsav would not deal with political questions until the end of his term.
