Killer driver remanded until end of proceedings

The Tel Aviv District Court on Tuesday remanded Yaron Bracha, the drunk and drugged driver who killed six people, including his brother, in a traffic accident earlier this month, in custody until the end of the judicial proceedings against him. The judge, David Rozen, said Bracha's deeds "are like those of someone who takes a rifle and opens fire in the heart of the city in a place teeming with people." Rozen added that Bracha drove the car even though he was aware that he was drunk and high on drugs. The state has charged him with manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. The suspect drove his car at a speed of 171 kilometers per hour through a red light at 1:30 a.m. on March 8.
