The Labor Party is considering leaving its headquarters in Tel Aviv's Hatikva Quarter and moving to the Beit Berl Teachers College in Kfar Saba, a Labor spokesman said Thursday, confirming a report on Channel 10.
The spokesman said that real estate consultants were determining the cost-effectiveness of leaving the current headquarters, where the party pays NIS 50,000 a month rent and NIS 150,000 for other costs. Labor is in the process of paying back a massive debt that has forced the party to sell key assets.
Labor moved to the Hatikva Quarter in 1999 from its old headquarters on Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Street in an effort by party chairman Ehud Barak to reach out to Sephardi voters.
