Lawyer: Soldiers not required to shake hands

The lawyer of Hananel Dayan Meged, the soldier who was removed from his unit on Friday for refusing to shake hands with Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz, said on Friday that his client had complied with all formalities. Meged's attorney argued that the soldier had saluted his commanding officers, and that no army regulations require soldiers to shake hands with commanders, Israel Radio reported.
