Likud, NU petition to disqualify Ram-Ta'al list

The Likud and National Union parties petitioned the Central Election Committee on Thursday with a request to invalidate the list of Arab party Ram-Ta'al citing comments allegedly made by Sheikh Ibrahim Sarsur, who currently holds the number one position on their list. Sarsur reportedly called for the establishment of Islamic rule over Israel. Sarsur vehemently denied the reports Thursday, adding that he was shocked by the false rumors. "I did not say that I wished to establish an Islamic country in Israel. This is one great bluff," said the Sheikh. MK Ahmed Tibi also denied the comments, and MK Taleb a-Sanaa condemned the report as "part of the incitement against the Islamic world which started in Denmark," Army Radio quoted.
