Following a comment by Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh that former Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti may be released from Israeli prison, MK
Limor Livnat (Likud) has announced that she will introduce a bill to prevent the release of a prisoner who has been convicted of murder.
Livnat's bill would seek to alter the Basic Law of the Knesset, and therefore would need a wide majority in order to pass. Livnat said that
even suggesting the release of Barghouti was "unacceptable."
