Livni calls for sterner sanctions on Iran

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni called on the international community Tuesday to step up sanctions on Iran following its refusal to halt its nuclear program, Army Radio reported. Speaking at a Kadima conference in Or Yehuda, Livni said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's comments Monday declaring Iran's 'Nuclear Technology Day' had surpassed "all boundaries" and it was "blatantly disregarding" the UN resolution. At a ceremony at the Natanz enrichment facility Monday, Teheran announced it had begun enriching uranium with 3,000 centrifuges, sufficient to produce a nuclear weapon.
