Livni: Gaza situation, terror hurt public faith in peace

The situation in the Gaza Strip and terror attacks in Israel weaken the public's faith in the diplomatic process, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said Sunday. Livni was meeting in Jerusalem with US Special Envoy to the region Gen. James Jones. "Israel is obligated to respond to terrorism, and any [peace] process will need to provide an unequivocal response to its security needs," she said. "[This] depends not only on the existence of people who want to live in peace with Israel - but on their ability to fight terrorism."
