Loophole permits new drivers to drive unescorted

A loophole in the licensing law uncovered on Wednesday was reported to permit thousands of new drivers to begin driving without any accompaniment and with no limitation on the number of passengers. According to the law, a person who already has a tractor or motorcycle license may begin driving alone as soon as they receive a driver's license, Army Radio reported. Transportation Minister Meir Sheetrit said that he instructed the legal department of the ministry to fix the law, and expressed hope that it would be done shortly.
