A 50-year-old woman was apparently stabbed to death in Netivot Tuesday night by her brother-in-law after she attempted to stop him from harming her sister, aged 30, whom he had also allegedly stabbed. One of the couple's children was a witness to his father's violence and informed a friend who then reported the incident to MDA and to police. The ambulance crew took the two women to a hospital and, during the trip, the suspect's sister-in-law died of her wounds. The suspect's wife is currently hospitalized in critical condition, having sustained wounds to her stomach. The suspect was arrested by the police and taken for questioning in which it became clear that he had violated a restraining order. The restraining order had been issued because of a history of domestic violence complaints on the part of the husband against his wife. The police will request today that the suspect's remand be extended. Concurrently, the police are continuing to investigate various aspects of the crime. Specifically, the investigators are trying to understand the background and motives of the dispute, and are looking into allegations of a generally troubled relationship with the husband having accused his wife of infidelity. An additional stabbing occurred last night in the southern town of Dimona, where a 25-year-old man was moderately wounded, under circumstances still unknown. The young man arrived at an MDA station with multiple stab wounds and, from there, was taken for treatment at the local hospital.
