The Haifa District Court sentenced a man from Kafr Kanna to four years in prison for shooting at and killing a man who broke into his jewelry shop.
Judge Ron Shapira stated that the verdict given on Tuesday afternoon was the minimal sentence possible for the type crime committed. The ruling was based on the fact that the shopkeeper did not have a license for the gun used, and that the act was committed ruthlessly.
Nevertheless, the judge accepted the plaintiff's claim that the act was in self defense.
