Mazuz: There will be no plea bargain in Hanegbi case

Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz said Tuesday that there would be no plea bargain with Kadima MK Tzahi Hanegbi, who is currently on trial on charges of making dozens of political appointments while serving as environmental protection minister between 2001 and 2003. Mazuz said Hanegbi's lawyers had initiated a meeting to discuss the possibility of an agreement but "because of the wide gap in the positions of the two sides, given the importance that we give to a court decision determining normative behavior [in this matter,] there was no justification, in our opinion, for reaching agreements."
