Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz told Finance Minister Avraham Hirchson on Tuessday to make amendments in the process of appointing a new Israel Tax Authority director.
"In order to rebuild the public trust in the ITA, the integrity of its activities and the person heading it, it is crucial to establish a professional appointment process through reflection and equal opportunities," Mazuz said.
Israel Radio reported that Mazuz insisted that the process be amended as quickly as possible in order to prevent further delays in filling the position, which has been left open due to the arrest of several senior ITA officials during an alleged tax bribery investigation over the past month.
